Job Purpose
• To be responsible for transactional compliance of Indirect Tax, Withholding Tax and Corporate Tax compliances for VIL as well as its subsidiaries.
• To follow the tax positions and compliance to guidelines as directed by the Corporate Tax Head, DT Head and IDT Head and Corporate Direct Tax / Indirect Tax teams
• Expeditious resolution of Tax matters
• Stakeholder management- Corporate Tax, Circle Tax, SSC peers and various functions as and when there is a requirement.
• Evaluate and keep FC, Tax Head and DT and IDT Heads and other respective stake holders informed of various tax implications on a continuing basis.
• Identifying, tracking and reporting any potential financial risks or issues and working closely with the various processes/ functions/ IT to implement appropriate solutions to address Tax compliance
• Optimal utilisation of all Tax Credits under both Direct & GST
• Keep abreast of the changing Tax/ legal framework and plan for changes in compliance and accordingly guide the team
Key Result Areas/Accountabilities
• Ensure accurate and timely Tax compliances (monthly, quarterly and yearly) are being complied within specified timelines as per the law. No non-compliance or delay in Compliance.
• Closely coordinate with external agencies and monitor the Refund compliance requirements are duly adhered
• Keep track of notices, demands, requirements received are brought to the notice of relevant stake holders and responded within the given timelines
• Optimise and maximise the utilisation of all Direct and Indirect Tax receivables so as to minimise cash outflows
• Ensure there is no exposure / dis-allowances on account of any Tax related non-compliance / failure
• Hold periodic discussions with finance/ various processes in the organisation which will be impacted due to Tax requirement and support/ work with them to ensure smooth compliance.
• Provide adequate support and clarity to various teams and processes for changes in the Tax/ legal compliances
• Ensure smooth conduct of Statutory/ Cost/ Department/ Internal audits.
• Manage IT and change management in ERP and various Billing platforms
• Ensure Optimal Automation of all Tax compliance processes by working closely with Consultants, Tax advisors
• Support Corporate, Functions and Circles on all tax related matters with appropriate inputs
• Share meaningful Monthly MIS, Dashboards to corporate to monitor and facilitate business decisions
• Monitor and analyse all Tax payments and provide expert advise on tax planning
• Ensure efficient and timely support to Corporate and Circles to handle all notices from Tax Department
• Ensure appropriate documentation and records related to tax filings, provisions and other tax-related activities.
• Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure alignment and coordination on tax matters.
• Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on financial issues, including tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
• Stay updated with changes in tax laws and regulations in India and proactively identify potential risks and/or opportunities for the Organisation.
• Foster a culture of Tax compliance and awareness throughout the Organisation, planning for training and support as and when needed.
• Inculcate a culture of innovation and collaboration within the Tax team, conduct regular training programs for the team to ensure the team is fully updated of all Changes in Tax compliances
• Mentor Senior members in Tax team to grow as Leaders
Core Competencies, Knowledge, Experience
• Professional qualification-Chartered Accountant (CA)/ 15-20 years of experience
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in Direct and Indirect Tax Compliance management in a Large corporate
• Strong understanding of Tax planning strategies and experience in managing Direct and Indirect taxes, with focus on GST Compliance, Withholding Tax, Corporate Taxation.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize and multi tasking
• Excellent people management skills. Experience of handing a large team in excess of 50+ Team members
Must have technical / professional qualifications
• CA with 15+ years of experience
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with ERP like SAP or Oracle.
• Experience in leading and managing a Ttax transactional team of 50+ members
