What Your Responsibilities Will Be
• Research tax law, reporting, and remittance requirements to keep our tax products in compliance with country, state, county, and local jurisdiction tax laws
• Experience of tax determination for Motor Fuel, Sales and Use, Tobacco and other United States and Canadian tax types
• Collaborate with other Indirect Tax Researchers and provide peer review of their research and work product
• Monitor legislation, administrative decisions, and judicial decisions for changes in transaction taxes in assigned jurisdictional or topical areas
• Apply taxability changes to our software while providing concise documentation of the changes
• Based on tax research, validate results of test transactions pre-production
• Build productive working relationships with state, county, and city authorities
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, law, economics, or related field
• JD/LLM, or CPA/Chartered Accountant
• Demonstrated minimum 4 + years experience in research and analysis and/or government compliance preferably in multiple areas of tax such as excise tax, tobacco, alcohol, motor fuel tax, sales & use.
• Indirect tax, research, consulting, or advisory experience in USA Indirect Taxation
• Ability to serve as analyst for complex tax research efforts related to taxation of sales and use, tobacco, motor fuels, and other commodities in the United States and Canada.
• Excellent research skills – ability to locate, understand, and explain complex tax requirements and scenarios from a functional and technical perspective.
• Knowledge of database management systems, able to create basic to complex SQL queries.
