Job Summary:
The Finance Controller is responsible for managing the financial activities of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, overseeing budgeting processes, and maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements. In a pyrolysis company, the Finance Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of the organization, while also focusing on cost management, project financing, and strategic planning related to pyrolysis operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Reporting & Analysis
• Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
• Analyze financial data to monitor the company’s financial performance and provide insights for decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, such as IFRS/GAAP.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes and prepare reports for management.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
• Lead the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial planning.
• Work closely with operational managers to align budget with production goals and capacity planning in pyrolysis operations.
• Monitor variances between actual results and budgets/forecasts and provide analysis on discrepancies.
3. Cost Management & Control
• Oversee the costing of pyrolysis processes, including raw materials, labor, energy, and other operational inputs.
• Develop strategies to control and reduce costs across the pyrolysis production line.
• Implement cost accounting systems to track project-specific costs and profitability.
• Regularly review and update cost control measures in collaboration with plant management.
4. Cash Flow Management
• Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for day-to-day operations.
• Forecast short-term and long-term cash needs, especially for investments in pyrolysis plant infrastructure and equipment.
• Ensure timely collection of accounts receivable and manage accounts payable effectively.
5. Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial regulations.
• Oversee tax compliance, filings, and the management of tax liabilities, particularly with respect to pyrolysis-related assets and investments.
• Identify financial risks related to pyrolysis projects and operations and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Work with external auditors to ensure successful completion of audits and implement any necessary changes.
6. Investment & Financing
• Evaluate and oversee financing options for capital-intensive projects like pyrolysis plant expansion, equipment purchases, and R&D investments.
• Liaise with banks, financial institutions, and investors to secure funding for large-scale projects.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as lenders, investors, and regulatory bodies.
7. Financial Systems & Process Improvements
• Implement and maintain financial systems and software to enhance financial reporting and analysis.
• Lead initiatives to automate and streamline accounting processes, particularly in cost tracking and inventory management.
• Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
8. Strategic Planning & Support
• Provide financial insights to the executive team to support long-term strategic planning.
• Analyze market trends and their financial implications for the pyrolysis industry, including fluctuating raw material prices and energy costs.
• Contribute to decisions regarding mergers, acquisitions, or joint ventures with a financial focus.
9. Team Leadership & Development
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, ensuring their performance aligns with the company’s objectives.
• Foster a collaborative environment between the finance team and other departments such as operations, procurement, and R&D.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training opportunities for team members.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Required Skills & Qualifications:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
• Professional Certification: Qualified Chartered Accountant is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in financial management, with at least 1-2 years in a leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of the pyrolysis industry or related fields such as waste management, recycling, or chemical manufacturing.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems); advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
• Analytical Skills: Strong financial analytical abilities, focusing on cost accounting, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
• Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage a finance team effectively.
• Problem-solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to addressing financial challenges.
